According to a recently published infographic created by Get Satisfaction, entitled “What Makes People Want to Follow a Brand?” almost 40% of people surveyed, follow a brand a Facebook in order to get direct information regarding deals and coupons and 32% are current customers. This gives little hope to sites such as Groupon, who obtain very little brand loyalty for the brands who just use their service to sell products in mass and at discounted rates. Why would a brand pay a large percentage of their transaction money to a third party, when they could promote their own deals directly to existing customer base and gain the extended loyalty of these customers?
Furthermore, 42% would ‘usually’ but the product directly from the Brand that they are following and 39% would recommend it to their social network of friends.
Another interesting statistic shown on the infographic is that 97% have been influenced by an online experience whether or not it has resulted in purchasing a product.
